Collecting a Soil Sample

Areas that behave differently should be treated as separate fields.

To collect a topsoil sample, gather 10-16 samples as evenly distributed as possible from the area to be tested, regardless of the size. There should be more than you need for the test itself and all the samples from a single area to be tested should be mixed thoroughly for accurate results. Take 2 CUPS of the total mixture and put in a labeled ziplock bag. Make sure each sample is secure.

Submit soil sample. You will receive a Mehlich III soil test result paired with a chromatogram, along with a description of the image and its relationship to your soil test. You will also receive recommendations for amending your soil, depending on your needs.
